Most surgeries are ordered by doctors to address medical conditions. These surgeries are viewed as necessary, because they can help relieve or prevent pain or discomfort. When cosmetic surgery was first introduced, it was either performed to aid wounded WWI and WWII soldiers who were severely damaged from the horrors of war or as a luxury for the extremely wealthy.

Nowadays, however, there is a much wider variety of surgeries that can be performed at a fraction of the cost, making body alterations much more accessible than it once was. As such, those interested in changing their appearance in some fashion can save up for the luxury.

If you have unwanted body hair that you do not want to continuously pluck, trim, or shave, then laser hair removal may be a worthwhile investment. Continue reading to learn if it is right for you.

Hair and Skin Color

Laser hair removal can be done on almost every skin color. There are different types of lasers that are used for lighter and darker skin tones. However, it gets a bit more complicated when dealing with lighter hair colors. Blonde, grey, and some shades of red hair are tougher to remove than black or brown hair. Some laser hair removal centers claim that they can remove hairs of any color, but the machines that can target a broader spectrum of hair colors are not as precise and may actually cause skin irritation. If you have lighter hair, research the treatment well before taking the leap.

It is Not Permanent

Contrary to popular belief, laser hair removal is not a permanent solution. The surgery focuses more on reducing the amount of hair by eliminating hair follicles, but it is very possible for new follicles to grow, as a result of hormone changes or weight gain. If hairs start to pop up in treated areas, you may need to return to the center for maintenance.
